More About The Show: Set at Christmas in 1183, The Lion in Winter follows King Henry II, his imprisoned queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, and their three sons as they maneuver, manipulate, and spar over the English crown. Both blisteringly funny and intensely human, the play captures the eternal tug-of-war between power and love.

The Confetti Stage production features Nellson Moore as Henry II and Jennifer Madison as Eleanor of Aquitaine, leading an exceptional ensemble celebrated for their rich character work and emotional precision.

“We’re going for full medieval immersion,” said Adele Scheiber, Co-Director on a collaborative directorial team that includes herself, Ryan Gangemi (Co-Director) and Shaya Reyes (Assistant Director). “From integrated period music and authentic choreography to cinematic lighting and sound, the audience will be transported straight into Henry’s court. We’re also not pulling any punches on the preshow, which will feel like a mini Renaissance faire.”

“Adele and I both wanted to create a sense of historical accuracy and a show of the highest dramatic appeal,” said Ryan. “With this cast and crew, that has definitely happened.”

This production also features a full slate of understudies, who will be performing a special one-night-only show on March 7 to thank them for their dedication to the project and to spotlight even more local talent.
